Bellone Announces a $3.8m Tax Cut for Babylon's 2012 Budget
BABYLON – Winning the second time in as many debates for Suffolk County Executive, Babylon Town Supervisor and Democratic Candidate Steve Bellone today continued showing why he is the strongest candidate to help grow Suffolk County’s economy and protect taxpayers. The debate, moderated by Richard Rose, was hosted by WLNY TV 10/55 and will air Sunday, October 2, at 2:30 p.m.
“My record in Babylon has always been to do more with less, promote efficiency and accountability and at today’s debate I was proud to announce that we will again be able to cut taxes by nearly $4 million dollars in Babylon’s 2012 budget and do so without impacting services our residents depend on,” said Bellone. “My approach has enabled us to reduce the size of government, cut debt every year, improve Babylon’s bond rating to an A+ and deliver, for the second straight year, a significant tax reduction. As County Executive, I will take the same results driven approach to focus on growing our economy in Suffolk County.”
Bellone’s economic plans, released over the summer and available at http://wwww.stevebellone.com/issues, are intended to leverage Suffolk County’s assets, create Innovation Zones featuring the lowest taxes on businesses in Long Island history and turn the region into the nation’s next “Research Triangle.” Bellone will cut red tape to make it easier for businesses to create jobs, and reform County departments to focus on economic growth.
The Suffolk County Democratic Committee has built an unprecedented grassroots field operation that has already knocked on over 175,000 doors and made over 200,000 phone calls to voters across the county. Monday, Governor Andrew Cuomo came to support Steve Bellone’s campaign, telling a crowd of more than 600 in Huntington, “Steve Bellone knows how to make government work because he’s done it. He’s proven that he can make government efficient and make the government effective. He respected the taxpayers and reduced the debt and reduced taxes. These times are tough and Steve’s direction is the way up.”
