Bellone Will Also Appear on Independence Line for Suffolk County Executive Election
BABYLON – The Suffolk County Independence Party today announced that it is endorsing Babylon Town Supervisor Steve Bellone in the race for Suffolk County Executive. Frank MacKay, Chairman of the Suffolk County Independence Party, made the decision after screening both Steve and Republican candidate Angie Carpenter after William Bogart declined the nomination.
“Steve Bellone is the best prescription for a county that is facing tough economic times,” said MacKay. “Steve has reduced debt, cut taxes, and eliminated red tape to attract new businesses to Babylon, and the Independence Party is confident that he will do the best job as County Executive.”
“I am thrilled with the support I have received throughout the county,” said Steve. “Everywhere I go, people are responding to my message of moving Suffolk forward together, with fiscal discipline for taxpayers and aggressive economic development. I am honored to have earned the Independence Party endorsement and have my name appear on their ballot line in November.”
Last week, Steve qualified for the Democratic line by submitting 16,727 Democratic signatures – significantly outpacing the requirement of 2,000 signatures – and reported having nearly $2 million cash-on-hand to use for the race. He is running an aggressive, grassroots campaign that has already knocked on 100,000 doors and made 25,000 phone calls in Suffolk County.
